Geraldo Rivera Apologizes For Saying Girls Might Be ‘criminalizing Courtship’

The Fox News reporter’s   remarks, in which he explained the news industry as “flirty,” were shared on Twitter Wednesday.  

“Sad about (Matt Lauer) amazing guy, highly skilled (and) empathetic (with) guests (also) a real gentleman to my loved ones (also) mepersonally,” he wrote.   “News is a company & it seems like (the) present outbreak of #SexHarassmentAllegations may be criminalizing courtship (and) conflating it (with) predation.”

After receiving backlash for his remarks one day after, 74, Rivera, tweeted that an apology.

“Reaction to my tweets today on #sexharassment makes apparent I did not sufficiently explain this is a horrendous problem long concealed,” he wrote. “Harassers are deviants who deserve what is coming into them. Often, victims are too frightened to come forward in a timely fashion — I humbly apologize.”

Fox News denounced Rivera’s statements in a statement provided to USA TODAY Thursday.   

“Geraldo’s tweets don’t reflect the views of FOX News or its direction. We had been troubled by his remarks and also are addressing them with him,” the statement, provided with the new station’s spokesperson, browse.
