The name of Sharon Tate is back in the news following her death at the hands of the Manson family in 1969.
Hilary Duff will star on the model-actressintroducing her to a new creation with accomplishments and the star’s life before her untimely departure. The Haunting of Sharon Tate is set for release later this season and has already made waves with Tate’s younger sister, Debra Tate, who slammed the film since “tacky” to People magazine.
Here are a few things to keep in mind about Tate ahead of the projects.
Her acting résumé
In the First and mid-60s, the Dallas-born Blonde appeared on the small screen in TV series Mister Ed, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and The Beverly Hillbillies.
Her first role in a film came just three years prior to her death, in 1966’s Eye of the Devil. In follow-up attributes, she’d share the display with large name co-stars Dean Martin (The Wrecking Crew) and Orson Welles (Twelve Plus One). While Valley of the Dolls (1967) was critically panned, the film earned Tate a Golden Globe nomination. In Roger Ebert’s review of the film starring Patty Duke and Barbara Parkins, he did say ldquo & Tate;remains a miracle to behold. ”
Her marriage to Roman Polanski
Days before her 25th birthday, Tate married her Fearless Vampire Killers manager and co-star Roman Polanski, then 34, at a London ceremony in the Chelsea Register Office on Jan. 20, 1968. In styles fitting with the times, Tate wore a high-neck yellowish minidress of her own design, her hair. Polanski’s ensemble included a jabot.
While the two seem pleased in footage from their reception which followed in the Playboy Club A Life writer Ed Sanders indications at cracks in their bliss. He writes in his 2016 biography that Valley of the Dolls writer Jacqueline Susann, a guest in one of the couple’s wedding parties, recalled Tate “was really happy, but she had been entirely under Roman’s predominate. He doesn’t even look it, but he has to be a guy. ”
Lasting Effect on pop culture
Tate’s iconic picture continues to captivate decades after her death appears on the catwalk and Drew Barrymore’s Harper’s Bazaar appears in 2010.
